SkillKit is a native macOS app for the skills, rules, system prompts and custom instructions your AI coding agents read. It finds them wherever each tool keeps them and gives you one place to search, edit, lint, compare and security-scan them.

This page is laid out the way SkillKit sees your disk: as a tree. Click a folder to fold it away.

Rescans are incremental, so editing one skill does not re-walk everything. Remote libraries on cloud VMs sync over SSH.

Skills are instructions. Some instructions are hostile.

The static security scanner works offline and checks for prompt injection, leaked keys, hidden characters, remote scripts and destructive shell commands. The editor below runs a subset of the app's rules, with its rule IDs and severity weights. Edit the file and watch the score.

Score is based on severity weights: critical 40, high 20, medium 8, low 3. Capped at 100.

    Static heuristic scan. It flags risky patterns and is not a guarantee: review skills from untrusted sources yourself. In the app, any rule can be ignored per skill.

    A real editor, with a linter that shows its work.

    Markdown editor and live previewSyntax highlighting, autosave indicators and a side-by-side preview that parses frontmatter.
    Skill linter with quick fixesChecks the shared SKILL.md format: a lowercase, hyphenated name of at most 64 characters that matches its folder, and a description of at most 1024. Every fix is previewed as a diff first.
    Document outlineJump to any heading, skipping frontmatter and fenced code.
    Safe editingIf an agent rewrites a file you have open, SkillKit offers Reload or Keep Mine. Deletes go to the Trash.
    Safe renamingRename in place while frontmatter, headings and linked agent installs stay in sync.
    Agent chat and diff reviewAsk your local agent to refine a skill, then accept or reject its edits in a side-by-side diff.
