- Camera Access: Camera access is used solely to scan barcodes and QR codes. Images are processed in real-time and are never uploaded or stored by us.
- Local Storage: Your scan history and saved codes are stored strictly on your device. We have no access to this information.
- AI & Food Services: On-device AI features run locally when available. Food product lookups send the scanned barcode to Open Food Facts so Scanly can display product details; no personal identifiers are included by Scanly.
How We Use Your Data
Because we collect nothing on our own servers, your scan history and saved content stay on your device. Any information generated during your use of the app is used exclusively to:
- Display results and history locally on your screen.
- Generate barcodes and QR codes within the app environment.
Third-Party Services
We may use third-party services to provide specific features. These services are selected for their commitment to security and privacy:
- Apple StoreKit: For processing subscriptions and payments. Apple's privacy policy governs the data they collect during this process. We do not store your credit card information.
- Open Food Facts: When you scan a food barcode, Scanly may send that barcode to Open Food Facts to retrieve product names, images, ingredients, and nutrition information. Scanly does not include your name, email address, saved history, or device identifiers in this lookup.
